ASHLEY AVIS – Writer, Director
Ashley Avis is an American screenwriter and filmmaker.
She has written, directed, and produced over 100 different projects to date – including international commercial campaigns airing in thirteen countries, television pilots, music videos, fashion films, and co-branded campaigns with her original creative for clients like Coca Cola and Red Bull.
Her debut feature film Deserted – an artistic thriller set in Death Valley – recently wrapped principal photography in January 2015. The film stars Mischa Barton, Winter Ave Zoli, and Trent Ford, with a supporting cast including Jake Busey, Sebastian Bach, Gerry Bednob, and Lance Henriksen. The film was edited by Oscar nominated Douglas Crise (Birdman, Babel).
She also recently produced THE PICTURE, a pilot for David Winkler / Winkler Films, which is currently in post.
Her novel to screen adaptation of The Cybil Raven Chronicles for Oscar-nominated producer Todd Labarowski / Dreambridge Films is slated for 2016 production, and her next feature film Adolescence – will go into production in February 2016.
Her work has been called “timelessly romantic” (White Lies Magazine), “elegantly sensual” (Elite Daily), and “tasteful, blending innocence with seduction” (Red Hot Society).
She has been nominated as “Best Director” for three internationally recognized fashion films, “Lionne Blanche” and “Smoke” for 2014, and “The Poet” in 2015.
She creates work constantly, lives in Los Angeles near the ocean with her husband and producing partner Edward Winters, and is the founder of Alchemy Pictures, and co-founder of their new venture WINTERSTONE.
Edward Winters is a former finance professional from Manhattan – working at Merrill Lynch and Folio Dynamix before shifting his sights to the entertainment industry.
A producer and co-founder of Los Angeles based production company WINTESTONE with his wife Ashley Avis, Edward recently produced the feature film Deserted (2016), and the television pilot The Picture (2015) for David Winkler (Winkler Films, Goodfellas, Rocky franchise). He is a producer on WINTERSTONE’s next feature film, Adolescence, which will begin filming in February 2016.
GARRETT O’BRIEN – CINEMATOGRAPHER
With a Master’s in Film from American University, Garrett is engrossed by the complexity of the visuals in narrative storytelling. He has tested and used cameras for Lucas Film on their feature “Red Tails”. He has shot several award winning short films, such as “Waiting on a Train”, “CONSTANT”, and “Fractured Legacy” along with a plethora of documentary and commercial work.
His feature film “Gone Doggy Gone”, has been sweeping the festival circuit – having been accepted to 15 festivals, winning 6 audience choice awards, and nabbing 3 grand jury awards thus far.
His latest movie, which was helmed under the Alchemy banner – the artistic thriller Deserted (starring Mischa Barton, Winter Ave Zoli, Trent Ford, Lance Henriksen, Jake Busey and Sebastian Bach) is now in post.
Academy Award nominated Douglas Crise was born in May 1961 in Smithton, Pennsylvania, USA as Douglas Alan Crise.
He is known for his work on Traffic (2000), Ocean’s Eleven (2001), Babel (2006), The Nines (2007), Kill the Irishman (2011), and Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014).
